It is finished...

My academic work of grad school is over. I'm done with tests. Papers. Research. Writeups. And class. Beautiful I tell you. The past few days I have wanted to blog, but haven't felt like it. So I haven't. It's a good feeling to have to no responsibility. I get to read. Quilt. Go on walks with mowgli. Dye my hair. And then re-dye it. And do lots of shopping... At goodwill and other thrift shops of course :) its been wonderful. Now on to a
Night of Harry potter movies :) tomorrow is looking like a busy day of quilting followed by a movie date ;) two weeks of freedom... It's beautiful!

adventures in vegetarianism.

hm. don't know if thats a word.
well. ive been a vegetarian for three days.
thankfully- for cheese- its not been too big of a deal.
(read my vegetarian?! page for more details on this adventure)

anyway. i did meet a challenge yesterday. i forgot my lunch at clinical.
all i brought was an orange for a snack.
crap. what was i to do.
i had an hour break for lunch- so i figured i'd drive around while i brainstormed...
then. i saw a wendy's.
and well-- im not a fan of fast food- BUT
wendy's does have a baked potato and side salad (both are a dollar)
and combined- thats a filling meal!
so for 2 bucks i succeeded in a meat-free meal.

ryan made falafel's for dinner.
yeah. i didn't know what it was either.
it was awesome though.
thank goodness my husband can cook!
basically its pitas- with chickpea patties (sorta) and seasoning inside.
it was so good. :)

not too much else is going on in life. well clinicals and school.
but thats not too exciting.
oh im going to start a quilt in all my spare time for my most favorite new baby-to-be
lillie claire... coming to a town near you soon :)
since i have no spare time- we shall see how that one goes.

and well im doing some fun readings right now about food and meat and consumerism and lent.
im also really thankful these days for my sweet, kind, supportive, and chef-esque husband of mine.
and my dog. i love those big brown eyes and cuddly little guy. he really is the darn cutest dog ive ever seen. you can't deny that.

oh. and my birthday. its coming up soon.
:) i totally forgot about it. but its in like 14 days :)
today i came up with a big list of things i'd love.... i guess ill share them here.

- pedicure
- massage
-nick sparks new book
-tickets to the lion king in greenville sc
- tickets to the ACC championship game *on my birthday in atlanta!
-flight simulator
-and always a new pandora charm :)

and well. since all of those things cost a fortune.... well except the book... i guess i'll be okay with a night out with my hubby! like a big nice dinner.

15 days later....

so. i haven't been in hiding... just been busy enjoying life.
here is a rundown of the basics from the last couple weeks...

first off--- i finished off another semester of grad school. and may i mention- i made a 4.0 for the SECOND semester in a row?!?! crazy. i think ive gotten smarter with age. this is a 3.0 kid from high school...  who is now a 4.0 kid in grad school at duke... how does that happen?!?!
sorry. im really proud of my hard work!
my LAST semester starts january 18--- crazy!

ok. moving on.
i finished harry potter book 7...
perhaps one of the best books ever.

 really. it was that good.

this little guy has become even more awesome. and im even more crazy about him.

 i met captain america.
it was pretty sweet.
this was right after spiderman almost tackled me.... really.

i drank butterbeer.
never heard of that?!? its from harry potter.

and well they have it in harry potter world.
no. its not real beer. but
holy moly so good. like crazy delicious.
mix of cream soda taste with perhaps root beer splash. and then crazy awesome caramel froth.
oh my. if only you could buy it in cases....

oh yeah. i went to africa.
sorta.
african safari---
at animal kindom.
it was pretty amazinggggg

and before all that madness---
i was a quilting queen. sewing up a storm.

thus the reason i have been away.
seriously. i sewed and crocheted like a madwoman.
here are a few things i made...

this is part of my mom's quilt.
the fabric was found in her grandmother's attic.
the whole quilt is made from her grandmother's fabric.

it was really fun to make--- this is it in the making. i wish i had a picture of my mom's face when she opened it up. it was a big surprise!

here are two other gifts i made... fun little bags for jewelry on the road, lippies in the purse, or even credit card & ID for a night out--- super easy and great gifts!

well. thats really about all for now.
we had an amazing christmas... first with our family and then at the sniders.
then of course our week in florida with the sniders.

im so blessed with such a great family on both sides!

well. this is probably the last picture of me in shorts for a long longggg time.
snow coming monday!
back to our country life in the mountains!

love and peace
