heavy hearts

you may remember my post about my new "job". sitting with a dear woman from our church a few days a week to allow her husband to venture out occasionally. this woman was awesome. so funny. sweet. loving. and actually started the quilting ministry at our church 100 years ago! (not really, but pretty close)
so this woman and her husband have become very dear to me and ryan over the past 8 months. well this past weekend she passed away. very peacefully and in a beautiful way. ryan was reading scripture with her. she asked him to pray for her. he did. afterwards she gently closed her eyes; for the last time.
needless to say its been hard few days for our church. yesterday was her funeral celebration of life, and it was perfect. outside- the mountains in the background. sun shining brightly. cool breeze. really, one of the most beautiful services i have been a part of. from the scripture, to the sermonette, to the spontaneous amazing grace.

well this (earrrrly) morning ryan got a phone call that another member of our church died during the night. this was very VERRY unexpected. he is one of the first people we met at our church- because he is the first person EVERYONE meets. he is the friendliest, most outgoing man in our church. he talks to every person that walks in the door. he shares the gospel with anyone with ears to hear. he is a prayer warrior. he asks questions. he is a faithful member of bible study. he was not old either. (old is 80's btw- 60's is the new 40's) what an amazing man of God. our church family has had 2 very dear members go on to be with our Savior. its been a hard few days.

times like these you need each other.

sunday night at youth- we had a wonderful time. just opening up. talking. sharing. and of course- being ridiculous. i really really love our kids. (these 4 plus 3 more!)

so. when life gets ya down- gotta look at the promises of life that God gives us. The amazing love of God to us. he loves me! little old me.
life is good. life is beautiful.

and so. to celebrate life...
i decided to start a quilt for a new life coming to us soon :)

lillian claire will be here in june- and i hope to have a new cozy quilt to comfort her mama and cuddle up baby in :) what better way to think about life- than to start a quilt for a new life coming soon.
